Appearance: Beautiful smooth and silky colorado wrapper. Supple to the touch.
Flavors before lighting: Notes of cedar, earth and gray pepper. Decent draw.
FLAVORS AFTER LIGHTING:
First third: Nice earthy and oily flavors with bark in the first puffs. The strength gradually settles down and the cigar become more rounded.
Second third: Little change to the flavor profile: the blend of earthy-cocoa and bitter-fresh peat is still present. The cigar is supple and harmonious, albeit somewhat flat.
Final third: A significant increase in strength, becoming almost dizzying. The cigar, increasingly earthy, loses its finesse and balance until a heavy finish.
Comments from the panel: “Personality and presence”; “Robust, enterprising but not mellow enough”; “Look out for the uppercut in the final third!”
When to smoke it: After lunch.
The Amateur’s Conclusion: Undoubtedly too young, this fiery Maltés is a tad unbalanced, which may put some smokers off. It should mellow out with age.
